Clinical Psychologist
Shayna Fujii was born and raised on Oahu, Hawaii. She graduated with her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Minor in Child Development from Mount St. Mary's College in Los Angeles, CA. She returned home and received her Doctoral and Master's degrees in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University, Hawaii. Dr. Shayna has a magnitude of experience working with children, adolescents, adults and families. Her clinical experience includes working in the following settings: community mental health center, military hospital and school. She completed both her predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center. She created and implemented the Holomua Program, a grant funded group therapy program for foster and adoptive children and their parents on the Leeward coast. Her clinical interests include childhood disorders, attachment, trauma, depression, grief and anxiety. She integrates bibliotherapy, play therapy, Theraplay, meditation/yoga, music and art into therapy as appropriate.
Dr. Shayna strongly believes that a person's thoughts are linked to an emotion which is then is expressed through a behavior. Her therapeutic style focuses on building an open and trusting relationship with her client. Together she works with clients to Live Optimistically Through Universal Struggles. Therapy sessions include learning how to live a balanced life by improving positive thinking, communication, and coping skills.
