The journey may not always be easy, when you put in the hard work and do things the right way the payout is worth it. One of my favorite analogies to use in a session involves a hike. I begin by telling my client that each trail head typically has two options, a trail that uphill and a trail that is downhill. The downhill trail is shaded and easy, the end result is a trail end or valley. The uphill is difficult, its hot and tiring; it requires rest stops and water breaks. But once you are at the top of the hill, the view is gorgeous. You see 180 degree views, you see the mountain tops and the as far as the eye can see. You are literally on the top of the world! Not only do you see the beautiful view, you feel a great sense of accomplishment as you complete the challenge and succeeded. Life is full of decisions, do we choose the easy trail that leads to little reward or do we challenge ourselves, work up a sweat, feel exhausted and be out of breath at the top. The journey may not always be easy, the hard and difficult road is a struggle and yet in the end result it is worth it. Which trail will you take?
